What exactly is DaveWhat?

DaveWhat cultivated a natural musical talent through years of classical violin training and a knack for other instruments, mainly of which has been the guitar. As his first experience at capturing sound and programming with MIDI, he and his talented high school classmate ventured into their very first production on a four track tape machine, which gained popularity amongst the entire school community. The journey climaxed to a live performance by the two guitarists, a Kawai K4 synth, and a Q-80 sequencer.

Life, then, took a sudden turn as he pursued a different course; putting off music entirely so that he can commit to his dual B.A. and B.S. degrees in Management Engineering, the latter at which he achieved from the presitigious Columbia University, in the heart of New York City. Continuing his rigorous academic education, he moved to San Diego, CA, to specialize in Solid Mechanics at UCSD. As luck would have it, though, he had an epiphany- he realized engineering wasn't for him at all. Subsequently, he quit graduate school, and moved back to L.A. in search for his true passion in life. Music.

David attended the Los Angeles Recording School (formerly the L.A. Recording School) in Hollywood, CA, and before graduating, began interning and working as a recording engineer at Studio City Sound in Studio City, CA. Under the tutelage of Grammy award-winning engineer Tom Weir, he helped track and edit many projects, and was known to be the go-to guy for Auto-Tuning vocals because of his perfect pitch.

Currently, he is helping to launch Imagine This Entertainment, an independent hiphop record label, to provide an avenue for his creative abilities as an instrumentalist and a producer. With the vision of Keitel, aka Mark Lowe Jr., their collaboration is nothing less than prodigious. An eclectic mix of styles marks the foundation of what makes him DaveWhat.

"But I've never heard of this guy?" you might say. Well when you do, and you will, just say DaveWhat?
